Northshore Fencing Club Rules

      BE SAFE!

  • Stay at home if you do not feel well.

  • Enter and leave only through the main door.

  • Warm up/ stretch before class.

  • Bring your own water bottle; do not share with others..

  • Wear proper attire (mask, glove, white jacket, knickers or long pants, and underarm protector).  NO SHORTS!

  • Make sure your strip surface is clear of all debris to prevent trips, slips, or falls.

  • No horseplay or running.

  • Stay out of the way of other fencers bouting and only fence under the observation of a coach or assistant coach.

  • Keep blades pointed down when not fencing or getting a lesson.  Never point a blade at someone that does not have on a mask.

  • Inspect your weapons and protective equipment prior to bouting. Replace if needed (missing rubber tip, blade not uniform, missing screw, etc).

  • Fencers will not be allowed to leave unless the parents or guardian are physically present to pick them up.

      BE RESPECTFUL!

  • Follow the direction of ALL coaches, assistant coaches, and volunteers with respect. If a problem should arise, speak privately with Coach Grace about it.

  • Treat our borrowed equipment as if it were yours by keeping it clean, safe ,and dry.  It costs about $150 + per set, so do not forcefully damage it.  You will be responsible to pay for equipment you lose, damage, or do not return.

  • If you quit class, clean and return anything borrowed to Coach Grace at the next class. Masks and leather gloves can be sprayed with Lysol and aired out in the sun.  Do not wash them. Fabric gloves and jackets are to be washed individually and gently.

  • When releasing the fencer's end of the reel, NEVER allow the cord to snap back to the reel.

  • Help pick up and put equipment away at the end of class so we respectfully leave our space clean.

      MOST IMPORTANT - HAVE FUN!

  • Come with a smile and ready for the best part of your day!

  • Expect to learn something new in each class!

  • Be TEACHABLE and measure improvement over time and skills mastered rather than just always winning!

  • Eagerly participate in games and bouting!

  • Share with Coach Grace the things you like best about class, so we can do more of it!
