Lewis Smith Memorial Cup
Halfway through 2025 NSFC hosted an epic cup in Lewis Smith's honor with the Northshore Vultures. It lasted 6 months with one tourney each month. These tourneys included all three weapons (foil, saber, and epee) where ribbons were awarded for each. During the finali trophies were awarded according to points received from each monthly tourney.

Lewis J. Smith (1940-2025)
Lewis Smith introduced Coach Grace to fencing in 1979 in a Southwest Texas State University saber class. He began teaching classes there in 1974 and under his guidance the fencing team grew to 250 team members with the Amateur Fencers League of America. His fencing team (SWTSU Fencing Society) were state collegiate fencing champions for 6 years under his instruction.

During Summer Camp and Fall Class at Coquille Parks and Recreation, the last day concluded with a culminating tournament where these awards as well as class graduation certificates were earned. Northshore Vultures also won these at their first tourney this past summer.

Coach Grace visited Ponchatoula High School and did a fencing demo with the high school ladies basketball team in the spring.
